A GOOD START FOR THE NEW CATEGORY KZ BY KART GRAND PRIX

The more than 20 engines that have already been delivered and the great excitement in view of the start of the season hint at a new success for the BMB single-brand

In the last few weeks the BMB management has defined the last details concerning the new KZ category (with gearbox) that will join the well-established TAG (single speed) starting from the 2012 racing season. First of all the basic guidelines of the Regulations have been confirmed together with the use of the BMB engine approved for the KZ with a special exhaust; the Regulations will allow to prepare and manage the engines as in the National and International KZ classes, events to which it may of course participate.

As regards the chassis, on the other hand, a great freedom has been granted as well as the possibility of using any brand and model, even with an expired approval. As for tires, finally, the green Vega ones have been chosen: they are reliable and easy to find.

As a matter of fact the new category promoted by BMB is likely to become a reference for those who love gearboxes and who are currently very confused because of the lack of programmes able to meet their needs. The Kart Grand Prix "container" will in fact allow to run a prestigious National Championship, offering TV live coverage and also many high level services, from the live timing to the MGM Timing, from the effective track services to the strict technical checks. It should also be remembered that the KGP championships always offer a prize money which is a very good added value for the drivers.

To underline the great success expected by the organizers, it is enough to think that more than 20 KZ engines have already been delivered for the Trophy and, in anticipation of the collective tests to be held on February 11 and 12, many other drivers and teams have expressed their interest in this new category. As for the official calendar, the organizers have also defined the dates of the Regional Championships (delegated to the local organizers), with less competitive races than the main series, to complete the 2012 race programme.

Carlo Boscolo of BMB makes an initial assessment in this “start up” stage for the launch of the new series:"The new KZ of the KGP Trophy completes our offer of single brand trophies, joining the proven single speed KGP in the racing segment. The need to devise a programme for the drivers and the teams who are keen on gearbox arises from the fact that the various categories are mismatched, the rules are not very stable and the market is very fragmented and not able to respond to the demands of many fans. What we thought, instead, goes precisely in this direction: to provide the right context to these drivers so that they can live their passion, with high level track services and a very good communication thanks to the live TV broadcast.

We have not designed a specific product, instead we will simply follow the guidelines regarding KZ, allowing the drivers to use the same technical materials in the National races, too. In this stage, sales are proving we are right; thinking about a category that in a short time can have more than 50 drivers is not a utopia at all, also considering the great number of potential users in terms of licences.
